Having been a photographer for many years before moving sideways into being an eBay trader, I still tend to think photographically and use the observational skills built up in those years when doing gaming-related tasks.
This comes across particularly strongly when making wargaming terrain - I have a large collection of photographs of interesting details and textures to use when thinking about how a piece of scenery or terrain should be constructed/finished.
Something I've wondered about for awhile now is whether to start putting some of this reference library online so that other scenery makers can benefit from it. Need to know what weathered Tarmac looks like? Head over to the scenery reference library and do a search...
The images would all be key worded with subject matter and condition, making it easy to find the different images.
